Possible Causes
Open or shorted Peltier module, Poor thermal contact due to dried thermal paste, Heatsink clogged with dust, Reversed polarity or wiring fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before disassembly. Heatsinks may be hot.
- Access Peltier assembly: Remove the rear panel to expose the Peltier module sandwiched between internal and external heatsinks.
- Clean heatsinks: Brush dust from both heatsinks and ensure fans are clean and spinning freely.
- Check wiring: Inspect the Peltier module wires and connectors for burns or breaks. Reseat connectors.
- Test module: With a multimeter, check resistance across the Peltier module. An open circuit indicates failure. Typical modules show a few ohms.
- Replace module: Remove the clamping frame, carefully separate the heatsinks, and replace the Peltier module with a Montpellier-specified or equivalent unit. Apply fresh thermal paste on both sides and reassemble evenly.
