Possible Causes
Defective ambient NTC sensor near front grille, Sensor knocked loose during cleaning, Damaged sensor harness to PCB, Faulty main control PCB ambient sensor input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the wine cooler before removing toe-kick or front grille panels.
- Locate ambient sensor: On many mQuvée models, the ambient sensor is mounted behind the front grille or near the air intake at the bottom front of the unit.
- Clean area: Vacuum dust and lint from the grille and sensor area to ensure proper airflow and accurate readings.
- Inspect sensor: Check that the sensor capsule is intact and not hanging loose. Re-secure it with clips or cable ties if necessary.
- Check wiring: Follow the sensor wires back to the main control PCB. Look for damage or disconnection and repair or reconnect as needed.
- Test sensor: Measure resistance and compare to cabinet sensor at similar temperature. Replace the ambient NTC sensor if readings are abnormal (open/short).
- Re-test: Restore power and verify that E5 clears and the compressor cycles normally.
- If E5 remains: The main control PCB may misinterpret ambient readings and require replacement by a technician.
