Possible Causes
Overheating compressor, High or low supply voltage, Blocked ventilation, Faulty main control board sensing circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the wine cooler before moving or cleaning it.
- Check power supply: Plug the unit directly into a properly grounded wall outlet. Avoid extension cords or power strips. If possible, use a plug-in voltage tester to confirm normal voltage (typically 110–120V in North America).
- Verify ventilation: Ensure the cooler has the required clearance around the sides, back, and top. Remove any objects blocking the rear grille or front kick plate.
- Clean condenser: Remove the rear lower panel and clean the condenser coil and fan area thoroughly.
- Reset control: Leave the unit unplugged for 15–20 minutes to allow the compressor protection circuit to reset. Plug back in and monitor operation.
- Board inspection: If EC returns quickly, inspect the main control board for burnt components or discoloration. Replacement of the board may be required.
- Professional diagnosis: If basic checks do not resolve EC, contact a technician to evaluate compressor current draw and control board function.
