Possible Causes

Failed lower-zone thermistor, Connector not fully seated on control board, Wire harness pinched or broken behind liner, Defective main control board input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the wine cooler before servicing.

Procedure:

  • 1. Confirm dual-zone model: E3 is commonly associated with the lower-zone sensor on NutriChef dual-zone coolers.
  • 2. Locate lower-zone sensor: Inside the lower compartment, find the sensor probe or small plastic cover on the rear or side wall. Remove any decorative cover carefully.
  • 3. Inspect sensor and mount: Ensure the sensor is firmly clipped in place and not dangling or pressed tightly against the evaporator plate unless designed that way.
  • 4. Access rear panel: Remove the back service panel and trace the lower-zone sensor wires to the control board. Look for cuts, pinches, or melted insulation.
  • 5. Electrical test: Disconnect the sensor from the board and measure resistance at known temperature. If the reading is infinite (open) or near 0 ohms, the sensor is bad.
  • 6. Replace sensor: Install a new NutriChef-compatible lower-zone thermistor. Route the harness along the original path and secure with clips or tape.
  • 7. Check control board: If E3 remains after sensor replacement and wiring checks, the main control board may need replacement.
