Display shows E5 and compressor or cooling module does not start, or unit shuts off shortly after starting.

Safety: Unplug the cooler. Compressor and electrical components can be hazardous.

Steps:

• 1. Check ventilation: Ensure the NutriChef wine cooler has adequate clearance at the back and sides (typically at least 2–4 inches). Clean dust from the condenser coils and rear grille with a soft brush or vacuum.
• 2. Allow cool-down: If the compressor is very hot to the touch, leave the unit unplugged for 30–60 minutes to cool. Restart and see if E5 returns.
• 3. Inspect start relay and overload: Remove the rear panel to access the compressor. Carefully remove the plastic cover on the compressor terminals. Inspect the start relay and overload protector for burn marks or rattling (a sign of internal damage).
• 4. Test components: With a multimeter, check continuity through the overload and relay according to their specifications. Replace if open or visibly damaged.
• 5. Examine control board: Look for burnt components or swollen capacitors on the main control board. If the board is damaged or not sending power to the compressor circuit, it must be replaced.
• 6. Professional help: If the compressor itself is seized or shorted (high current draw, tripping breakers), a sealed-system technician is required.
