Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between display board and main control board, Damaged touch control PCB, Moisture intrusion into control panel, Faulty main control board communication circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the cooler before opening the control panel.
Steps:
- 1. Inspect exterior: Check the control panel area for signs of liquid spills or condensation. Dry the surface thoroughly.
- 2. Access control panel: Remove the screws securing the top or front trim to access the display/touch PCB. Carefully lift the panel to avoid tearing the ribbon cable.
- 3. Reseat ribbon cable: Disconnect and reconnect the flat ribbon cable between the display board and the main control board. Ensure it is fully inserted and locked.
- 4. Check for corrosion: Examine the display PCB for corrosion, burnt spots, or cracked solder joints. Light corrosion can sometimes be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush (with power disconnected and ample drying time).
- 5. Test operation: Reassemble enough to safely power the unit and test buttons. If E7 remains and buttons are unresponsive, the display/touch PCB may need replacement.
- 6. Replace control board if needed: If a new display board does not resolve E7, the main control board is likely at fault and should be replaced.
