Possible Causes

Failed evaporator NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from evaporator coil, Corroded sensor connector at main control board, Broken sensor harness due to ice buildup or vibration

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety warning: Always disconnect power before removing panels or touching wiring. Sharp metal edges inside the compressor compartment can cause injury.

  • Reset and observe: Unplug the cooler for 5–10 minutes, then plug it back in. If E2 reappears, proceed with inspection.
  • Access the evaporator area: Remove the interior rear panel inside the wine cooler (usually behind the shelves). This exposes the evaporator coil and fan. Be careful not to bend the aluminum fins.
  • Locate the evaporator sensor: Look for a small probe or plastic-encased sensor clipped to the evaporator tubing or mounted near the coil, with two thin wires leading out.
  • Check sensor placement: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the coil or bracket and not dangling in free air. Re-clip it securely if it has come loose.
  • Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires to where they exit the cabinet and connect to the main control board at the rear. Check for cuts, pinches, or signs of ice damage. Confirm the connector is fully seated on the board.
  • Test the sensor (optional): With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor from the board and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to the cabinet sensor if known good; a reading of OL or 0 Ω indicates failure.
  • Replace if defective: Order a "Phiestina evaporator temperature sensor" for your model. Unclip the old sensor from the coil, gently pull the wire through, and route the new sensor along the same path. Avoid contact with sharp fins and secure the wire with existing clips.
  • Reassemble: Reinstall the interior rear panel, ensuring no wires are pinched. Restore power and verify that the E2 code is cleared and that the unit cycles normally.
