Possible Causes
Loose compressor mounting bolts, Internal compressor mechanical wear, Refrigerant lines striking cabinet during start/stop, Unit not level causing vibration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooler before adjusting mounts or tubing.
- Level the cooler: Adjust leveling feet so the unit is stable and does not rock when pushed.
- Inspect compressor mounts: Remove the rear panel and check that the compressor mounting bolts and rubber grommets are intact and snug. Tighten bolts gently; do not overtighten and crush grommets.
- Secure tubing: Ensure refrigerant lines are not close to the cabinet walls where they can bang during startup. Add foam padding or clips as needed.
- Monitor noise: Some mild thumping at start/stop can be normal. If the noise is very loud or worsening, the compressor may be failing and should be evaluated by a technician.
