Possible Causes
Failed zone-specific evaporator fan, Faulty zone temperature sensor, Air damper stuck closed between zones, Control board not energizing zone components
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before accessing internal fans, dampers, or sensors.
- 1. Compare zones: Use a thermometer to confirm one zone is at the correct temperature while the other is not.
- 2. Check zone fan: Listen for fan operation in the warm zone. If silent, access and test the zone’s evaporator fan motor.
- 3. Inspect air damper (if equipped): Some Samsung dual-zone models use a motorized damper to share cooling. Ensure the damper door is not stuck closed or blocked.
- 4. Test zone thermistor: Measure resistance of the warm zone’s temperature sensor and compare to spec. Replace if faulty.
- 5. Control board outputs: If fan and sensor are good, the main PCB may not be driving the zone correctly and may need replacement.
Note: Label all connectors when working with dual-zone wiring to avoid cross-connecting zones.
