Possible Causes

Defective cabinet thermistor, Thermistor harness loose or damaged, Corroded thermistor connector on main PCB, Main control board sensor circuit failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the wine cooler or switch off the circuit breaker before removing any panels. Do not work on live electrical parts.

  • 1. Power reset: Unplug the unit for 5 minutes, then plug back in to see if the E1 code clears. Temporary glitches can trigger sensor errors.
  • 2. Check interior sensor location: Open the door and locate the cabinet temperature sensor (usually a small plastic probe or covered sensor on the rear or side wall). Make sure it is not covered by bottles or touching the evaporator plate, which can cause false readings.
  • 3. Inspect wiring harness: Remove the interior shelves and access panel (if present) to trace the sensor wires to the rear of the cabinet. Look for pinched, cut, or chewed wires and reseat any loose connectors.
  • 4. Test thermistor (advanced): With the unit unplugged, disconnect the thermistor from the main PCB. Use a multimeter to measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to Samsung’s spec for that model (commonly 5–10 kΩ at 25°C). If the reading is open, shorted, or far out of range, replace the thermistor.
  • 5. Inspect main PCB: Access the rear control compartment, remove the cover, and check the main control board for burnt spots or corroded sensor pins. If the thermistor tests good but E1 persists, the main PCB may need replacement.
  • 6. Reassemble and test: Reconnect all harnesses, reinstall panels and shelves, restore power, and monitor temperature for several hours.

Warning: If you are not comfortable testing electrical components, contact a qualified appliance technician.
