Possible Causes

Failed evaporator thermistor, Thermistor wiring harness damaged by ice or vibration, Loose connector at evaporator or main PCB, Main control board sensor input failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing internal components. Sharp metal edges are present around the evaporator area.

  • 1. Defrost the unit: If there is heavy frost on the back wall, unplug the cooler and leave the door open for 12–24 hours to fully defrost. After defrosting, restore power and check if E2 returns.
  • 2. Access evaporator compartment: Remove interior shelves and the rear inner panel to expose the evaporator coil. The evaporator thermistor is usually clipped to the coil or mounted nearby.
  • 3. Inspect the thermistor: Check that the sensor is firmly clipped to the coil and not dangling. Look for cracked insulation or broken wires, especially where they pass through foam or near tie-down points.
  • 4. Test thermistor resistance: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the thermistor from the harness and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to Samsung’s temperature/resistance chart. Replace the sensor if readings are open, shorted, or out of spec.
  • 5. Check harness and connectors: Follow the harness from the evaporator area to the main PCB at the rear. Reseat connectors and look for corrosion or loose pins.
  • 6. Evaluate main PCB: If the thermistor and wiring are good but E2 persists, the main control board may have a failed sensor circuit and should be replaced.

Warning: Avoid using sharp tools to remove ice from the evaporator; you can puncture the refrigerant tubing.
