Possible Causes
Defective ambient thermistor, Sensor dislodged from its mounting near the front grille, Damaged harness between sensor and PCB, Main PCB ambient sensor circuit failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before removing any toe-kick or rear panels.
- 1. Verify installation conditions: Ensure the wine cooler is not installed in direct sunlight, near an oven, or in a location outside the specified ambient temperature range. Extreme ambient conditions can confuse the sensor.
- 2. Locate ambient sensor: On many Samsung wine coolers, the ambient sensor is near the front grille or air intake. Look for a small probe or sensor behind the kick plate.
- 3. Inspect sensor and mounting: Remove the kick plate and confirm the sensor is properly secured and not hanging loose. Clean any dust buildup that may insulate the sensor.
- 4. Check wiring: Follow the sensor wires back to the main PCB. Look for pinched or cut wires and reseat connectors.
- 5. Test sensor: With power disconnected, unplug the sensor from the harness and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to Samsung’s spec. Replace the ambient thermistor if readings are abnormal.
- 6. Replace main PCB if needed: If the sensor and wiring are good but E3 remains, the main control board may be defective.
Note: After replacing the sensor or PCB, allow several hours for the unit to stabilize and recheck operation.
