Possible Causes
Failed lower compartment thermistor, Loose or damaged lower zone sensor harness, Corroded connector at main PCB, Main PCB lower sensor channel failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing interior panels or accessing the control board.
- 1. Confirm dual-zone model: L1 typically refers to the lower zone on dual-zone Samsung wine coolers. Verify that only the lower zone is affected.
- 2. Access lower zone sensor: Remove lower shelves and any inner panel to locate the lower zone thermistor on the rear or side wall.
- 3. Inspect sensor and wiring: Ensure the sensor is properly mounted and not damaged. Follow the harness to the main PCB and check for pinched or broken wires.
- 4. Test thermistor: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at the current temperature. Compare to Samsung’s spec. Replace if out of range.
- 5. Reseat connectors: At the main PCB, unplug and replug the lower zone sensor connector to clear any poor contact.
- 6. Replace main PCB if needed: If the sensor and wiring are good but L1 persists, the control board may have a failed input channel.
Note: Label connectors before removal to avoid mixing upper and lower zone sensor plugs.
