Possible Causes
Defective upper compartment thermistor, Loose upper zone sensor connector, Damaged harness between upper zone and PCB, Main PCB upper sensor channel failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before accessing interior panels or the control board.
- 1. Verify upper zone issue: Confirm that the U1 code corresponds to the upper zone and that the upper compartment temperature is inaccurate.
- 2. Locate upper zone sensor: Remove upper shelves and any decorative panel to find the thermistor on the rear or side wall.
- 3. Inspect and secure sensor: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached and not touching cold plates or bottles directly, which can skew readings.
- 4. Check wiring: Trace the sensor harness to the main PCB, looking for damage or loose connectors. Reseat connectors at both ends.
- 5. Test thermistor: Measure resistance and compare to spec. Replace the upper zone thermistor if readings are abnormal.
- 6. Control board evaluation: If the sensor and wiring are good, the main PCB may be misreading the upper zone and require replacement.
Note: After replacing sensors, allow several hours for the temperature display to stabilize.
