Possible Causes
Door gasket not sealing, Door opened frequently in humid environment, Clogged drain causing standing water, Temperature set too low relative to ambient humidity
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before cleaning or gasket replacement.
- 1. Inspect and clean gasket: Wipe the door gasket and cabinet mating surface with mild soap and water. Remove any debris preventing a tight seal.
- 2. Check for gaps: Close the door on a strip of paper at several points. If the paper slides out easily, adjust hinges or replace the gasket.
- 3. Clear drain: Ensure the defrost drain is not blocked so moisture can exit to the rear drain pan.
- 4. Adjust temperature: Slightly raise the set temperature to reduce condensation if the ambient environment is very humid.
- 5. Limit door openings: Minimize how often and how long the door is open, especially during humid weather.
Note: Periodically wiping interior surfaces and using a mild sanitizer can prevent mold growth.
