Possible Causes
Clogged defrost drain, Cracked drain tube, Excessive door gasket leakage causing condensation, Unit not leveled causing water to overflow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before removing interior panels. Use towels to catch water.
- 1. Locate drain hole: Inside the cabinet, find the small drain hole or channel at the rear near the bottom or under the evaporator plate.
- 2. Clear blockage: Use a soft pipe cleaner, cotton swab, or flexible plastic rod to gently clear any debris or mold from the drain hole. Do not use sharp metal objects.
- 3. Flush with warm water: Using a turkey baster or syringe, flush warm water through the drain to ensure it flows freely to the rear drain pan.
- 4. Inspect rear drain tube and pan: Remove the rear cover and check that the drain tube is properly connected and not cracked. Ensure the drain pan above the compressor is not overflowing or misaligned.
- 5. Level the unit: Adjust leveling legs so water flows naturally toward the drain.
- 6. Check door gasket: Replace a damaged gasket that allows excessive warm air in, which can create excess condensation.
Note: Regularly cleaning the drain helps prevent odors and leaks.
