Possible Causes
Dirty condenser coils, Weak or failing compressor, Low refrigerant charge due to leak, Evaporator fan not circulating air properly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before cleaning coils or accessing fans.
- 1. Check door seal and usage: Ensure the door gasket seals all around and that the door is not opened excessively. Replace a torn or hardened gasket.
- 2. Clean condenser: Remove the rear cover and vacuum dust from the condenser coils. Improved airflow can significantly enhance cooling.
- 3. Verify fan operation: Confirm both the evaporator fan (inside) and condenser fan (rear) run when the compressor is on. Replace any non-operational fan motors.
- 4. Inspect frost pattern: Remove the inner rear panel and look at the evaporator. A full, even frost pattern indicates a healthy sealed system. Partial frost or only at the inlet may indicate low refrigerant or a restriction.
- 5. Adjust set temperature: Lower the set temperature a few degrees and monitor for 24 hours.
- 6. Technician evaluation: If airflow is good but cooling remains weak and the frost pattern is abnormal, a sealed system issue is likely and requires professional service.
Note: Overloading the cabinet or blocking air vents with bottles can also reduce cooling performance.
