How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Siemens wine cooler from the mains before removing any panels. Do not work on live circuits.

Steps to check and address E1:

  • Power reset: Disconnect power for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect. If E1 clears temporarily and returns, the sensor circuit is likely faulty.
  • Locate the cabinet NTC: Inside the wine compartment, look for a small plastic sensor cover on the rear or side wall (often near the middle shelf). Remove the cover carefully.
  • Inspect wiring: Check the sensor leads for cuts, pinches, or signs of moisture ingress. Ensure the connector is firmly seated where it enters the liner or connects to an internal harness.
  • Test the sensor (if you have a multimeter): With the unit unplugged, disconnect the NTC from the harness and measure resistance. At around 20°C, most Siemens NTCs read roughly 5–10 kΩ (exact value depends on model). If it reads open (OL) or 0 Ω, the sensor is defective.
  • Dry and reseat: If there is condensation, dry the area and reconnect the sensor plug firmly. Make sure the wires are not pinched by shelves or bottles.
  • Replace the NTC sensor: If readings are out of range or E1 persists, replace the cabinet temperature sensor (NTC) with a Siemens-compatible part. Route the new sensor along the original path and secure it away from moving parts.
  • Check main PCB connections: Access the rear service panel, locate the main control board, and verify the NTC connector is fully seated and free of corrosion or burnt marks.

If E1 remains after sensor replacement and wiring checks, the main control PCB may be faulty and should be diagnosed or replaced by a qualified technician.
