Possible Causes

Failed lower zone NTC thermistor, Sensor harness damaged by ice buildup, Loose connector at main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the cooler before removing any panels.

Steps:

  • Defrost first: If there is visible frost or ice on the back wall of the lower compartment, leave the door open and unplugged for several hours until all ice melts. Place towels to catch water.
  • Access the sensor: Remove lower shelves and the rear interior panel. The lower sensor is usually clipped near the evaporator coil or along the side wall.
  • Inspect wiring: Look for nicks, cuts, or crushed sections of the sensor wire, especially where it passes through plastic panels.
  • Check connector: Follow the wire to the main control board (often behind the rear metal service panel). Reseat the connector firmly.
  • Test and replace: If you have a multimeter, test resistance as for the upper sensor. Replace the lower zone NTC sensor if readings are out of range or intermittent when you gently wiggle the wire.
  • Reassemble: Reinstall the interior panel and shelves, restore power, and confirm that the E2 code clears after a power reset.
