Steps:

• Listen for compressor: Plug in the unit and set it to a cold temperature. Listen at the back for a humming or clicking sound from the compressor. Repeated clicking without running suggests a start device issue.
• Access start device: Unplug the unit. Remove the plastic cover on the side of the compressor to expose the start relay and overload protector.
• Inspect and replace: Check for burn marks or a burnt smell. Gently shake the relay; if it rattles, it is likely bad. Replace the compressor start relay/overload assembly with a compatible Simzlife part.
• Control board check: If the compressor never receives power (no hum, no warmth on compressor shell) and the start device is good, the main control board may not be sending power and may need replacement.
• Professional help: If a new start device does not restore operation, the compressor itself may be failed and requires a professional to diagnose and replace.
