Possible Causes
Aging rubber gasket, Physical damage from bottles or cleaning tools, Incorrect installation of replacement gasket
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before replacing the gasket to avoid the fan running while the door is open for an extended period.
Steps to replace gasket:
- Remove old gasket: Gently pull the gasket out of its retaining channel around the door.
- Clean channel: Wipe the gasket channel with a mild detergent solution and dry thoroughly.
- Install new gasket: Starting at the corners, press the new SMEG gasket firmly into the channel, ensuring it is fully seated all around.
- Shape and seal: Close the door and check for gaps. Use a hair dryer on low heat to soften and shape the gasket for a perfect seal.
Tip: After installation, leave the door closed for several hours to help the gasket conform to the cabinet.
