How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance before accessing any electronic boards or wiring.
Steps to address CF:
- Power reset: Disconnect power for 10–15 minutes, then reconnect. If CF reappears immediately, proceed with hardware checks.
- Inspect harness: Access the area behind the control panel and locate the communication cable between the UI and main PCB. Check for pinched, cut, or burnt wires and reseat all connectors.
- Check for moisture: Look for signs of condensation or liquid spills around the control panel. Dry thoroughly if present.
- Swap boards if necessary: If available, replace the UI PCB first, as it is often easier and cheaper. If CF persists, replace the main control PCB.
Note: Always match replacement boards to the exact SMEG model and version; incompatible boards may not communicate correctly.
