Possible Causes

Loose or oxidized ribbon cable between UI and main PCB, Failed touch control or display PCB, Moisture ingress into control panel, Faulty main control PCB communication circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the wine cooler before removing the control panel or top trim. Avoid static discharge to electronic boards.

Steps to troubleshoot E7:

  • Power reset: Disconnect power for 10 minutes, then reconnect. If E7 clears temporarily, a communication glitch or marginal connection is likely.
  • Access the control panel: Remove the front control bezel or top trim (depending on model) to expose the user interface (UI) board and its ribbon cable.
  • Inspect connections: Gently disconnect and reconnect the ribbon cable between the UI and main PCB. Look for corrosion, bent pins, or moisture marks.
  • Dry the area: If there are signs of condensation or liquid spills, allow the panel and connectors to dry completely before reassembly. Do not use excessive heat.
  • Check for physical damage: Cracked PCBs, burnt components, or damaged touch pads indicate the UI board should be replaced.
  • Replace the UI board: Order the correct SMEG display/touch control PCB for your model. Transfer any mounting brackets or seals and reinstall carefully to maintain the door seal and aesthetics.
  • Consider main PCB: If a new UI board does not resolve E7, the main control PCB may have a communication fault and require replacement.

Note: Handle ribbon cables by the stiffened ends only; do not pull on the flexible part.
