Possible Causes
Built-in condenser design with poor ventilation, Blocked ventilation grills, High ambient temperature, Overworked compressor due to door seal leaks
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Some warmth on side walls can be normal, but excessive heat warrants inspection. Unplug the unit before moving or cleaning.
Steps to address excessive exterior heat:
- Improve ventilation: Ensure that built-in installations follow SMEG's clearance requirements. Clear any obstructions from front and rear grills.
- Check ambient temperature: Move the unit away from heat sources and ensure the room temperature is within the specified range.
- Inspect door gasket: A leaking gasket can cause the compressor to run longer, increasing heat. Replace if necessary.
- Monitor operation: If the compressor runs almost continuously and sides are extremely hot, a sealed system issue may be present; contact a technician.
Warning: Do not cover ventilation openings or place items directly against the side walls.
