Display shows E3 and the ambient temperature reading is incorrect or the unit runs at the wrong times.

Safety first: Unplug the wine cooler before removing the control panel or display bezel.

Steps to address E3:

• 1. Confirm environment: Ensure the cooler is not installed in an area outside its rated ambient temperature (usually 41–95°F / 5–35°C). Extreme ambient conditions can confuse the control.
• 2. Access the control panel: Remove any trim screws and gently pry off the display/control panel bezel. Be careful not to damage the ribbon cable.
• 3. Locate the ambient sensor: On many STAIGIS models, a small NTC sensor is mounted near the display or behind a vent opening at the top/front of the cabinet. It will have two small wires going to the main PCB.
• 4. Inspect and reseat: Check the sensor for physical damage. Reseat its connector on the board and clean any visible corrosion with electronic contact cleaner (with power disconnected).
• 5. Test the sensor: Disconnect and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to expected NTC values at room temperature. Replace if open or shorted.
• 6. Replace sensor if faulty: Install a compatible "STAIGIS ambient temperature sensor" and route the wires as originally installed, ensuring the sensor tip is exposed to room air, not trapped inside insulation.

Note: If E3 remains after sensor replacement, the main control board may require replacement.
