Possible Causes

Failed magnetic reed door switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken door switch wiring, Faulty door input circuit on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before working around the door frame or control wiring.

Steps to address E7:

  • 1. Check door operation: Open and close the door while observing the interior light and display. If the light never turns off or never turns on, suspect the door switch.
  • 2. Locate the door sensor: On many STAIGIS wine coolers, a magnetic reed switch is hidden in the cabinet frame, and a small magnet is embedded in the door edge.
  • 3. Inspect magnet alignment: Ensure the door closes squarely and the magnet area lines up with the frame sensor. Adjust door hinges if the door is sagging.
  • 4. Test the reed switch: With the unit unplugged, access the switch area (often behind a small plastic cover or inside the top frame). Disconnect the switch and test continuity while placing a magnet near it. It should open/close as the magnet moves.
  • 5. Replace faulty parts: If the switch does not change state, replace it with a compatible "STAIGIS door reed switch". If the magnet is missing or cracked, replace the "door magnet".
  • 6. Reassemble and test: Restore power and verify that the E7 code clears and the light and controls respond correctly to door position.

When to call for service: If the switch and magnet are good but E7 persists, the main control board input circuit may be damaged.
