Unit uses thermoelectric (Peltier) cooling and no longer cools; fans may still run but interior stays warm.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.

How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before disassembly. Heatsinks can have sharp edges.
Steps to address thermoelectric failure:
- 1. Identify model type: Confirm your STAIGIS cooler is thermoelectric (no compressor, only fans and heatsinks).
- 2. Access Peltier assembly: Remove the rear panel to expose the hot-side heatsink and Peltier module sandwiched between hot and cold heatsinks.
- 3. Check wiring: Ensure the Peltier module is receiving DC voltage from the control board when cooling is demanded. If not, suspect the power supply or control board.
- 4. Inspect module and heatsinks: Look for cracks in the ceramic Peltier module or loose mounting screws. Remove the module and check for dried or missing thermal compound.
- 5. Replace module: Install a new "STAIGIS Peltier thermoelectric module" with fresh thermal paste on both sides, and reassemble the heatsinks tightly.
Note: If multiple modules are used, test and replace any that are not drawing current or producing a temperature difference.
