Possible Causes
Unit not leveled on floor, Loose internal fan mounting, Vibrating copper refrigerant lines touching cabinet, Noisy compressor mounts
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before adjusting internal components. Avoid bending refrigerant lines sharply.
Steps to reduce noise:
- 1. Level the cabinet: Use a bubble level and adjust the STAIGIS leveling feet so the unit is stable and does not rock.
- 2. Check for external contact: Ensure the cabinet is not touching walls, cabinets, or other appliances that can transmit vibration.
- 3. Inspect internal fans: Remove interior panels and verify that the evaporator fan is securely mounted and not hitting wiring or plastic shrouds. Tighten screws and reposition wires as needed.
- 4. Isolate refrigerant lines: At the rear, gently separate any copper lines that are touching each other or the cabinet. Use foam sleeves or rubber grommets to prevent metal-to-metal contact.
- 5. Check compressor mounts: Ensure the rubber grommets under the compressor are intact. Replace worn "compressor mounting grommets" if necessary.
