Possible Causes

Failed compartment thermistor, Loose or corroded thermistor connector, Damaged thermistor wiring harness, Faulty main control board temperature input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before removing panels or handling wiring. Avoid pulling on wires directly.

Step 1 – Confirm symptom

  • Compare displayed temperature to an accurate digital thermometer placed in the middle of the wine compartment.
  • If the display is far off (more than 5–10°F) or fluctuates wildly, the thermistor may be faulty.

Step 2 – Locate the thermistor

  • Remove shelves to access the interior side walls or back wall.
  • Look for a small plastic sensor cover or bump where the thermistor is mounted.
  • Remove the cover screws and gently pull the sensor out enough to inspect the wiring.

Step 3 – Inspect and reseat connections

  • Check the thermistor leads and connector for corrosion, broken insulation, or loose pins.
  • Reseat the connector firmly to ensure a solid electrical connection.
  • Restore power and see if EC24 clears after a few minutes of operation.

Step 4 – Replace the thermistor if needed

  • If EC24 returns or the temperature reading remains inaccurate, replace the compartment thermistor with a Sub‑Zero compatible sensor.
  • Route the new sensor along the original path, avoiding sharp bends or pinching behind panels.
  • Secure the sensor in the original location and reinstall the cover.

Step 5 – Control board check

  • If a new thermistor does not resolve EC24, the main control board’s sensor input circuit may be defective.
  • Further diagnosis requires specialized tools and is best handled by a professional.
