Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker or unplug the unit. The condenser area may have hot surfaces and sharp edges.
Step 1 – Clean condenser
- Pull the unit out carefully if it is built-in, ensuring you do not kink the water line (if present) or power cord.
- Remove the lower front or rear grille to access the condenser coil.
- Use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust and lint from the condenser fins.
- Restore power and see if EC25 clears after several minutes of operation.
Step 2 – Locate condenser sensor
- With power OFF again, locate the small sensor clipped to or near the condenser coil or tubing.
- Inspect the sensor body and wiring for damage, overheating, or dislodgement.
Step 3 – Reseat or replace sensor
- Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the condenser surface as originally designed.
- Reseat the connector at the sensor and at the control board end if accessible.
- If the sensor is cracked, melted, or wiring is brittle, replace the condenser thermistor with the correct Sub‑Zero part.
Step 4 – Control board evaluation
- If a known-good sensor does not clear EC25, the main control board may be misreading the sensor.
- Professional diagnosis is recommended before replacing the board.
