Possible Causes
Failed magnetic reed door switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken or pinched door switch wiring, Faulty input on main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing trim or switch assemblies.
Step 1 – Check door switch behavior
- Open and close the door while observing the interior lights and fan operation.
- If lights stay on with the door closed or never come on, the door switch circuit may be faulty.
Step 2 – Inspect door gasket and alignment
- Ensure the door closes squarely and fully against the cabinet.
- Check that the door magnet (if used) is present and aligned with the switch location.
Step 3 – Locate and test door switch
- Depending on model, the switch may be in the cabinet frame or integrated into the hinge area.
- Remove the switch or trim cover and inspect wiring for damage.
- Reseat the connector and test operation again.
Step 4 – Replace door switch
- If the switch is physically damaged or does not change state when the door is opened/closed, replace it with the correct Sub‑Zero door switch.
Step 5 – Control board check
- If a new switch does not resolve EC26, the main control board input may be defective and require professional service.
