Possible Causes

Failed zone evaporator fan motor, Faulty damper motor (if equipped), Damaged wiring to zone components, Defective zone control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing fans or dampers. Use care when removing interior panels.

Step 1 – Listen for fan operation

  • With the unit running, listen near the affected zone for fan noise.
  • If the fan is silent while other zones’ fans run, suspect the zone fan motor or control.

Step 2 – Access zone evaporator fan

  • Remove shelves and the rear interior panel of the affected zone.
  • Locate the evaporator fan and inspect for ice blockage or physical obstruction.

Step 3 – Clear ice and test

  • If the fan is encased in ice, fully defrost the unit for 24 hours with power off.
  • After defrosting, restore power and check if EC32 clears and the fan runs.

Step 4 – Replace fan or damper

  • If the fan remains inoperative and wiring is intact, replace the zone evaporator fan motor.
  • If equipped with a damper and airflow is weak despite a running fan, inspect and replace the damper motor if stuck closed.

Step 5 – Zone board diagnosis

  • If new components do not resolve EC32, the zone control board may be defective and should be evaluated by a technician.
