Possible Causes
Blocked defrost drain tube, Ice buildup over drain trough, Debris or mold in drain grommet, Improper unit leveling causing water to miss drain
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing interior panels. Use towels to catch water and melted ice.
Step 1 – Access drain area
- Remove shelves and the rear interior panel to expose the evaporator and drain trough.
- Look for standing water or ice in the trough.
Step 2 – Clear ice and debris
- Use warm (not boiling) water to melt ice in the trough and drain opening.
- Use a small flexible brush or pipe cleaner to clear the drain hole.
Step 3 – Flush drain tube
- Using a turkey baster or squeeze bottle, flush warm water down the drain until it flows freely into the drain pan near the compressor.
Step 4 – Check leveling
- Ensure the unit is slightly tilted back so water flows toward the drain.
