Possible Causes
Failed magnetic reed switch or mechanical door switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken switch wiring in cabinet frame, Faulty control board door input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before working around the door frame wiring.
- Check door closure: Ensure nothing is blocking the door and that it closes flush with the cabinet.
- Inspect door magnet: Many Summit wine coolers use a magnet in the door and a reed switch in the frame. Verify the magnet is still embedded in the door edge and not missing.
- Locate door switch: Look along the cabinet frame for a small plastic switch or hidden reed switch behind a plastic cover.
- Test switch: With a multimeter, check continuity while opening and closing the door. Replace the door switch / reed switch if it does not change state.
- Adjust door alignment: If the door is sagging, adjust hinges so the magnet aligns properly with the switch area.
- Control board: If the switch and magnet are good but dE persists, the main control board may misread the door input and require replacement.
