Possible Causes
Failed ambient NTC sensor near control panel, Loose connector at display/control PCB, Broken sensor wiring in door or front panel, Faulty display/control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the wine cooler before removing the control panel or display housing.
- Locate the ambient sensor: On many Summit wine coolers, the ambient sensor is located near the front control panel or behind a small vent on the front grille or top panel.
- Remove control panel trim: Carefully pry off or unscrew the control panel bezel. Avoid damaging the ribbon cable to the display.
- Inspect sensor and wiring: Look for a small 2‑wire sensor connected to the control board. Check for loose plugs, corrosion, or broken wires.
- Test the sensor: Disconnect and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to typical NTC values at room temperature. Replace if open or shorted.
- Reseat connectors: Firmly reconnect the sensor plug and any ribbon cables to the display/control board.
- Replace components as needed: If the sensor tests good but E3 remains, the display/control board may be defective and should be replaced with a Summit‑approved part.
