Possible Causes
Failed evaporator NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from evaporator coil, Damaged sensor harness, Faulty main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety warning: Disconnect the appliance from the mains before removing interior panels. Sharp metal edges may be present.
- Access the evaporator area: Remove the wine racks and the interior rear panel inside the cooler compartment. The evaporator coil and its sensor are usually behind this panel.
- Locate the evaporator sensor: Look for a small probe or bullet-style sensor clipped or taped to the evaporator tubing, with two wires leading back to the control board.
- Check physical condition: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the evaporator coil and not hanging loose. Re-clip or re-tape it in close contact with the tubing if it has come loose.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires to the connector and check for cuts, abrasions, or corrosion. Reseat the connector at the PCB.
- Test the sensor: Use a multimeter to measure resistance at room temperature and again after cooling the sensor tip in ice water. The resistance should change smoothly. If it is open, shorted, or does not change, replace the evaporator NTC sensor with a Teka-compatible part.
- Reassemble and test: After replacement, reassemble the interior panel, restore power, and monitor if the E2 code clears and cooling stabilizes.
- PCB evaluation: If a known-good sensor is installed and wiring is intact but E2 persists, the main control PCB may be defective and should be replaced by a professional.
