Possible Causes
Blocked condensate drain causing overflow, Water in base pan triggering float switch (if equipped), Cracked drain pan, Excessive condensation due to door gasket leak
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance before tipping or accessing the base. Water and electricity are a dangerous combination.
Steps:
- Inspect interior: Look for standing water at the bottom of the cabinet. Mop up any visible water.
- Check drain: Locate the condensate drain hole at the rear of the interior. Use a small flexible brush or pipe cleaner to clear any blockage. Flush with a small amount of warm water.
- Access base pan: Carefully pull the unit out and remove the rear lower panel. Check the drain pan above the compressor for cracks or overflow.
- Float switch (if present): Some models have a float or leak sensor in the base. If water is present, dry the area completely and reset the float. Replace the sensor if corroded or stuck.
- Door gasket: Inspect the door gasket for gaps or tears that could cause excessive condensation. Replace if damaged.
After clearing water and blockages: Reassemble, restore power, and verify that E15 clears and does not return.
