Display shows E3 and the wine cooler may overcool or fail to reach set temperature.

Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing the evaporator area. The evaporator fins are sharp; wear gloves and avoid bending fins.

Steps:

• Access evaporator: Remove interior shelves and back panel inside the wine compartment to expose the evaporator coil and fan assembly.
• Locate sensor: Find the small probe clipped or taped to the evaporator tubing or mounted in a plastic holder near the coil.
• Check mounting: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the coil or in its holder. A loose sensor can cause incorrect readings and E3. Reattach using approved clips or aluminum tape.
• Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor leads to the harness. Look for chafing where wires pass through foam or metal. Repair any damaged insulation and reseat connectors.
• Test sensor: With the sensor disconnected, measure resistance and compare to the Thermador spec at the measured temperature. Replace if out of spec.
• Control board check: If the sensor is good and properly mounted, the main control board may be defective. Replacement is typically required; this involves removing the rear service panel and swapping the board.

After repair: Reassemble, restore power, clear the error (if applicable), and monitor for proper defrost and cooling cycles.
