Possible Causes
Failed magnetic reed door switch or Hall sensor, Misaligned door magnet, Broken door switch wiring in hinge area, Faulty main control door input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing door trim or hinge covers.
How to address E7:
- Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and the gasket is not obstructing. A partially open door can mimic a switch fault.
- Locate door switch: On many Thermador wine coolers, the door switch is a magnetic sensor in the cabinet frame with a magnet in the door. Inspect the magnet for damage or misalignment.
- Test switch: With power off, remove the switch or access its connector. Use a multimeter to check continuity while placing a magnet near the sensor. Replace the switch if it does not change state.
- Inspect wiring: Examine wiring near the top hinge or frame for pinched or broken conductors.
- Control board: If the switch and wiring are good, the main control board may not be reading the door status correctly and may need replacement.
Note: A faulty door switch can disable cooling or interior lights and may trigger alarms or E7.
