Defrost Mode Indication / Defrost Cycle Active
Display alternates between temperature and dF; unit may pause cooling periodically

Possible Causes
Normal automatic defrost cycle, Extended defrost due to heavy frost buildup, Faulty defrost sensor or control logic if dF persists
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No immediate hazard; this is often a normal indication. Unplug the unit before removing panels.
Steps:
- Observe duration: If dF appears briefly and then returns to normal temperature display, it is likely a standard defrost cycle and requires no repair.
- Check for frost: If dF remains for hours and cooling is poor, inspect the evaporator area for heavy ice buildup. Defrost manually by unplugging and leaving the door open until all ice melts.
- Inspect defrost sensor: Verify the evaporator sensor is correctly attached to the coil and wiring is intact.
- Monitor after reset: After a full manual defrost and restart, if dF still persists abnormally, the control board or sensor may be faulty and should be tested or replaced.
Warning: Do not chip ice with sharp tools; you can puncture refrigerant lines.
