Possible Causes

Loose or damaged ribbon cable between display and main board, Failed display PCB, Firmware error on main control board, Moisture ingress into control panel

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect mains power before removing the control panel or display assembly.

Steps:

  • Power reset: Unplug for 10 minutes, then reconnect. If Er returns, proceed.
  • Access display panel: Remove the front control fascia or top trim to expose the display PCB and ribbon cable.
  • Inspect cable: Check the ribbon cable for kinks, cracks, or corrosion at the connectors. Reseat both ends firmly.
  • Check for moisture: Look for condensation or liquid inside the control area. Dry thoroughly and improve door gasket or installation to reduce humidity.
  • Replace display PCB: If the cable is good but Er persists, replace the Transtherm display/control panel PCB.
  • Consider main board: If a new display does not resolve the issue, the main control board may also need replacement.

Note: Handle the display and ribbon cable gently to avoid cracking the board or traces.
