Possible Causes
Door gasket not sealing, Door frequently opened, Failed evaporator temperature sensor, Poor air circulation due to blocked vents
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before defrosting or removing interior panels.
Steps:
- Manual defrost: Turn off and unplug the cabinet. Open the door and allow all ice to melt naturally. Use towels to absorb water.
- Check gasket and door alignment: Inspect the Transtherm door gasket for tears or deformation. Adjust hinges so the door closes squarely. Replace the door gasket if necessary.
- Clear vents: Ensure interior air vents are not blocked by bottles or shelves, which can cause localized freezing.
- Inspect evaporator sensor: If frost returns quickly, the evaporator NTC sensor may not be correctly sensing coil temperature. Verify its placement and replace the evaporator temperature sensor if faulty.
Note: Do not use hair dryers or heat guns inside the cabinet; excessive heat can warp plastic liners.
