Possible Causes

Faulty compressor start relay or overload, Failed main control board not sending start signal, Open thermal fuse in compressor circuit, Loose power or compressor wiring

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the Transtherm cabinet before opening any electrical compartments. High voltage is present when powered.

Steps:

  • Verify power: Confirm the outlet has power and the unit's power switch (if present) is on. Check the internal fuse on the control board if accessible.
  • Listen for activity: When first plugged in, listen for any click or hum from the compressor. Total silence suggests a control or wiring issue.
  • Inspect compressor start components: Remove the compressor terminal cover and inspect the start relay and overload protector for burn marks or loose fit.
  • Replace start device: If suspect, install a new Transtherm compressor start relay and overload protector matched to your compressor model.
  • Check control board output: If the compressor still does not attempt to start, the main control board may not be energizing the relay. Replace the main control board if no other faults are found.

Note: If the compressor is extremely hot to the touch, allow it to cool before further testing. A locked or internally damaged compressor will require professional replacement.
