Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before cleaning coils or accessing the rear compartment.
Steps:
- Clean condenser: Pull the cabinet away from the wall. Use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust from the condenser coil and surrounding area.
- Check condenser fan: With the rear panel removed, briefly power the unit and confirm the condenser fan runs when the compressor is on. Replace the Transtherm condenser fan motor if it does not run or is noisy.
- Inspect door gasket: Close the door on a sheet of paper and pull it out around the perimeter. If it slides out easily, the gasket may be worn or the door misaligned. Replace or adjust the door gasket and hinges as needed.
- Check ambient temperature: Ensure the cabinet is installed within the recommended ambient range. Excessive room heat reduces cooling capacity.
When to call a technician: If the compressor and fans run, coils are clean, and the door seals well but the cabinet still cannot reach setpoint, a refrigerant leak or weak compressor is likely. These sealed-system repairs require specialized tools and should be performed by a certified refrigeration technician.
