Possible Causes
Refrigerant leak in sealed system, Blocked capillary tube or restriction, Weak compressor, Severely dirty condenser coil
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigeration system yourself. High-pressure refrigerant requires certified service.
- Clean condenser: Unplug the unit, remove the rear cover, and clean the condenser coil thoroughly with a brush and vacuum.
- Check condenser fan: Ensure the condenser fan runs when the compressor is on.
- Monitor frost pattern: With the rear interior panel removed (and power restored), observe the evaporator coil. A normal system will frost evenly across most of the coil. Frost only at the inlet or no frost at all suggests a sealed system issue.
- Check ambient conditions: Ensure the cooler is not installed in an extremely hot or unventilated space, which can trigger EC.
- If EC persists and cooling is poor: Contact a qualified refrigeration technician to check for leaks, recharge, or replace the compressor as needed.
