Possible Causes

Failed magnetic reed switch or mechanical door switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken door switch wiring, Faulty door input circuit on PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the wine cooler before working around the door frame or control panel.

Steps to check and fix:

  • 1. Identify door switch type: Vestfrost wine coolers may use a mechanical plunger switch in the frame or a hidden magnetic reed switch with a magnet in the door.
  • 2. Test door operation: With the unit powered (briefly), open and close the door and observe whether the interior light responds correctly. If the light stays on or off regardless of door position, suspect the switch.
  • 3. Inspect magnet and alignment: For magnetic systems, ensure the magnet is still embedded in the door edge and lines up with the switch location in the cabinet frame.
  • 4. Electrical test: Unplug the unit, access the switch, and test continuity with a multimeter while actuating the switch or moving a magnet near the reed. Replace if it does not change state.
  • 5. Replace door switch: Remove the old switch from the frame, disconnect the wires, and install a new Vestfrost-compatible door switch. Route wires neatly and avoid pinching them when refitting trims.
  • 6. Verify operation: Restore power and confirm that the light and any door-activated functions work correctly and that E12 clears.
  • 7. PCB check: If a new switch does not resolve the error, the door input circuit on the main PCB may be defective and require replacement.
