Display shows E5 and compressor may not start or may run erratically.

Safety first: Unplug the wine cooler. The condenser area contains hot surfaces and moving parts (fan); allow components to cool before touching.

Steps to check and fix:

• 1. Access ambient sensor: On many Vestfrost wine coolers, the ambient sensor is located near the condenser coil or compressor at the rear, sometimes clipped to the metal frame.
• 2. Inspect for heat damage: Look for melted insulation, brittle wires, or discoloration around the sensor. Ensure it is not touching the compressor shell directly.
• 3. Test resistance: Disconnect the sensor from the PCB and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to the expected NTC curve. Replace if open, shorted, or far out of spec.
• 4. Replace sensor: Remove the old sensor clip, route the new sensor away from very hot spots, and secure it with the original clip or a metal clamp. Do not tape directly to the compressor.
• 5. Check wiring to PCB: Ensure the harness is not pinched by the rear cover and that the connector is fully seated on the control board.
• 6. Test operation: Restore power and observe if E5 clears. Confirm that the compressor now cycles normally according to room temperature.
• 7. If E5 persists: The main control PCB may have a failed sensor input and could require replacement.
