Possible Causes
Loose data cable between UI board and main PCB, Damaged touch control/display PCB, Oxidized connectors at control panel, Firmware communication error
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the wine cooler before removing the control panel. Handle electronic boards by the edges to avoid static damage.
Steps to check and fix:
- 1. Remove control panel: On front-control Vestfrost models, remove the screws securing the top/front trim and gently pull the panel forward to access the display board and wiring.
- 2. Check ribbon/data cable: Ensure the ribbon or multi-pin connector between the display board and main PCB is fully seated and not damaged. Reseat both ends.
- 3. Inspect the UI board: Look for cracked solder joints at the display, burnt components, or moisture damage around the touch keys.
- 4. Clean connectors: Use electrical contact cleaner on the connectors and allow them to dry fully before reassembly.
- 5. Replace UI/display board if needed: If the board is visibly damaged or E9 persists after reseating cables, install a new Vestfrost-compatible user interface/display PCB.
- 6. Power up and test: Reassemble the panel, restore power, and verify that the display responds correctly and the E9 code is gone.
- 7. If still faulty: A communication fault can also originate from the main PCB; if a new UI board does not resolve it, the main control PCB may also need replacement.
