Possible Causes
Misreading cabinet NTC sensor, Poor sensor placement against evaporator, Stuck compressor relay on PCB, Incorrect thermostat calibration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before accessing internal panels or the control board.
Steps to check and fix:
- 1. Verify with a separate thermometer: Place an accurate thermometer in the middle of the cabinet to confirm actual temperature versus display.
- 2. Adjust setpoint: Increase the set temperature by a few degrees and monitor. If the cabinet remains too cold, continue diagnosis.
- 3. Inspect cabinet sensor: Access the interior rear panel and locate the NTC sensor. Ensure it is positioned correctly and not pressed directly against the evaporator, which can cause false low readings.
- 4. Replace sensor if suspect: If the sensor is out of specification or physically damaged, install a new Vestfrost-compatible NTC.
- 5. Check compressor relay: On the main PCB, inspect the compressor relay for welded contacts. If the compressor does not cycle off when it should, replace the control board.
