Possible Causes
Door not fully closed, Faulty magnetic reed door switch, Misaligned door or warped cabinet, Broken door switch wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before testing or replacing the door switch.
Steps to resolve dE/DO:
- 1. Confirm door closure: Check for racks or bottles preventing the door from closing. Remove obstructions and close firmly.
- 2. Inspect door gasket: Look for gaps, tears, or hardened sections that prevent a tight seal. Warm the gasket with a hair dryer and reshape if slightly deformed.
- 3. Locate the door switch: On many Vinotemp models, the door switch is a small plunger or magnetic reed switch near the top or side of the cabinet opening.
- 4. Test the switch: Disconnect the switch and use a multimeter to check continuity while pressing the plunger or bringing a magnet near the reed switch. Replace if it does not change state.
- 5. Replace and align: Install a compatible Vinotemp door switch. Ensure it is positioned so that the door fully actuates it when closed.
- 6. Check wiring: If the switch tests good, inspect the wiring back to the control board for breaks or loose connectors.
Note: Some models will not run the interior light or cooling if they think the door is open.
